Convert any date between the Hijri (Islamic) calendar and the Gregorian calendar instantly. Pick a direction with the tabs, enter the date, and get the converted result with the day of the week.
Note: This converter uses the tabular (Kuwaiti algorithm) Islamic calendar. Actual Hijri dates depend on moon sighting and may differ by ±1 day in your region.
How to use
- Choose Hijri → Gregorian or Gregorian → Hijri with the tabs.
- Enter the day, month and year.
- Click Convert — the result shows the converted date plus the day of the week.
How it works
This converter uses the tabular Islamic calendar, often called the Kuwaiti algorithm. Each date is converted to a Julian Day Number — a continuous count of days — and then converted into the target calendar. Hijri leap years (355 days) follow a 30-year cycle: years 2, 5, 7, 10, 13, 16, 18, 21, 24, 26 and 29 of each cycle.
How accurate is it?
Calculated dates can differ by ±1 day from the observed date, because real Hijri months begin with the sighted crescent moon. For religious observances, confirm with your local moon-sighting announcement.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the Hijri year have only 354 days? Twelve lunar months of 29–30 days add up to about 354 days — roughly 11 days shorter than a solar year.
Can I convert future or past dates? Yes — Hijri years 1300–1600 and Gregorian years 1900–2100 are supported.
What is the Kuwaiti algorithm? The standard arithmetic (tabular) version of the Islamic calendar, used by astronomers and calendar software worldwide.
