Why your Hijri age is higher than your Gregorian age
A Hijri year has 354 days (355 in a leap year) while a Gregorian year has 365. Because lunar years are shorter, you accumulate Hijri years faster — roughly one extra year every 33 years. Someone who is 33 in Gregorian years is about 34 in Hijri years.
How the calculation works
Your birth date is first converted from the Gregorian calendar to the Hijri calendar using the tabular Islamic calendar (Kuwaiti algorithm). The difference between that Hijri date and today's Hijri date is then computed in whole years, months and days, borrowing days from the actual Hijri month lengths — the same way any precise age calculation works.
